Eklavya develops and field tests innovative educational programmes and trains resource people to implement these programmes. It functions through a network of education resource centres located in Madhya Pradesh. For over two decades, Eklavya has sought to relate the content and pedagogy of education – both formal and non-formal – to social change and the all-round development of the children.
Currently, Vibha funds the “School Strengthening Initiative” (SSI) in Shahpur block, Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. The place is predominantly populated by Gond and Korku tribes. SSI started with 15 schools and Shiksha Protshaan Kendras (SPK) for supporting academically “weak” children in these schools in October 2014. These SPKs are operated and run by Eklavya.
Focus Areas :
Strengthening Public school system.
Objectives
Problem
The archaic Indian education system doesn’t cater towards a holistic development of children that includes but not limited to fostering creative thinking, analytical thinking, problem solving, curiosity, etc.
Solution
Eklavya’s programs are designed to be thought provoking, community oriented and aimed at systemic change in the public education system. Parents and community at large are seen as equally important stakeholders who can play a vital role in the continuing learning of their children in rural areas.
