Introduction:
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges for education systems worldwide, exacerbating existing disparities and threatening educational outcomes. Among the most affected are vulnerable children who lacked access to online learning. The situation calls for special attention to elementary-grade students who are struggling with foundational competencies, hindering their progress in grade-level education. In response to this pressing need, Vibha, a dedicated non-profit organization, is proud to partner with the Gujarat Education Department under the Samagra Shiksha Gujarat initiative. Together, they will implement the Samyak Prerana program, a transformative initiative focused on enhancing math competencies and fostering student motivation for students in grades 4 to 8 across three rural districts of Gujarat.
Objectives of the Samyak Prerana Program for AY 2023-24:
- Cultivate a motivating ecosystem within the target schools to ensure consistent attendance, increased participation, and improved learning outcomes for students in grades 4 to 8.
- Enhance the efforts of the State Government by providing customized math practice modules to students, enabling them to improve their foundational competencies by the end of the academic year.
- Establish and strengthen supportive structures such as Student Peer Learning Groups and Prerana Clubs to engage children in structured practice using the provided learning inputs.
- Train, guide, and empower stakeholders for the effective implementation of the program.
- Enable continuous evaluation of the program through regular reports and review meetings at all levels.
- Conduct a comparative assessment at the end of the academic year to measure the program’s impact, comparing the control group with the treatment group.
Program Coverage:
The Samyak Prerana program aims to reach 57 schools in the Kadana block of Mahi Sagar District, 50 schools in the Singvad block of Dahod District, and 92 schools in the Dabhoi Block of Vadodara District. With a focus on students in grades 4 to 8, these 199 schools will identify students based on their performance in periodic exams conducted by the schools, serving as indicators of their learning levels.
The Collaborative Partnership:
Vibha’s partnership with the Gujarat Education Department and the Sikshana Foundation under the Samagra Shiksha Gujarat initiative marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of quality education for underprivileged children. By combining their expertise and resources, these organizations are committed to empowering children with the necessary skills and motivation to excel academically.

Moreover, the program places significant emphasis on motivating all stakeholders, including students, teachers, parents, and community members, to actively engage in the education process.
Supporting Students on Their Journey:
Through the Samyak Prerana program, 15,000 students in grades 4 to 8 will receive vital support. They will be provided with workbooks, motivational inputs like stars, and My Learning Journey certificates to encourage their progress and celebrate their achievements. The establishment of Peer Learning Groups and Prerana Clubs within schools will foster a supportive environment where students can receive ongoing support and guidance.
