In 1991, a few people in New Jersey decided to start an organization in the US that would provide a platform for individuals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of the millions of underprivileged children in India. Over the next 16 years, the Vibha family has grown from a few volunteers in one state to over 825 active volunteers spread across the US and India. Vibha has also seen many a transition during these years, from partnering with a single organization in India, to evaluating and monitoring multiple projects on their own. Collectively, the dreams and actions of all these people have resulted in a positive difference in the lives of 150,000 children through 190 projects.
Today we are starting this blog to share our experiences in the ongoing effort. Topics will include first-hand accounts of visits to various projects run by NGOs in India, grass-root issues and what Vibha is doing about them, and the myriad experiences and thoughts from out volunteers, NGO project partners, and our patrons.
They say a “Pen is mightier than a sword” . Literally speaking, we dont use a pen to blog, nor do we use a sword to solve problems! But if this blog can educate one individual, if that one individual can enable ten others, and those ten empower a hundred others, then that army of hundred will bring a ray of sunshine and make a positive difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of underprivilegend children. We hope you join us in our journey.
